Ivy & Honor Groups: Explained
Hello everyone,
As you all know, Supernova has implemented two new ranks to the network,
The Honor Group and the Ivy Group.
To add to the thrill of the NovaQuiz and it's scores, you can now join honorary groups for your mastery of the knowledge of networking. You can earn these scores by simply taking the NovaQuiz in the extras page. You will get your score sent to you via PM in a span of 1-3 days.
-The Honors Group
The Honors Group is a selected group of members that have received a NovaScore in the 90th percentile (1370) and also have accumulated five Supernova awards in their span of being a registered user. The rewards are as follows:
1. Honor Group rank w/ nameglow
2. Entrance into the Supernova Honors Forum
3. Points earned from messages will increase from 620 to 650
4. NameGlow Unlocks: Red, Blue, Green, Orange, Yellow, Purple, Pink
5. Name Effect Unlocks: Blue Fire, Red Sparkls, White Ivy
6. Honors Group Name Picture
-The Ivy Group
The Ivy Group is a very selected group of members that have received a NovaScore in the 95th percentile (1445), accumulated ten Supernova awards, and also has one Member of the Month one time in their span of being a registered user.
The rewards are as follows:
1. Ivy Group rank w/ nameglow
2. Ivy Group Name Picture
3. Entrance into the Ivy Group Forums
4. NameGlow Unlocks (All)
5. Name Effects Unlocks
Red Sparkles,
Orange Sparkles,
Green Sparkles,
Teal Sparkles,
6. Points earned from messages will increase from 620 to 700
7. Mini-Moderator Permissions will be granted
8. Access to the special rank-up forum
9. Access to Beta Testing for future Supernova updates
Within the Ivy Group, there are four subgroups.
Obsidian, Crimson, Gold, and Diamond
While each group has the same perks, the selectivity to get into each one varies. For example:
Obsidian Member Profile
-6 Supernova Awards unlocked
-NovaScore of 1460
-Usually has ~40-50 posts
Diamond Member Profile
-12 Supernova Awards unlocked
-NovaScore of 1500
-Usually has ~80-100 posts
The only true difference between the Ivy Groups is the Ivy name glow representing the group, as well access to different subgroup forums. Also, Note that:
Obsidian Ivy Group receives 700 PPP
Crimson Ivy Group receives 750 PPP
Gold Ivy Group receives 800 PPP
Diamond Ivy Group receives 875 PPP
Selectivity
Becoming a member of these groups is very difficult. Along with meeting the requirements for one the groups described above, you also have to apply for placement. Similar to the Supernova+ Application, there is also the RegApp, created specifically for users wanting to becoming members of either the Supernova Honors or Ivy Groups.
Here are some statistic break downs:
Supernova Honors
Out of 218 applicants, 56 are accepted (25.69% acceptance)
Supernova Ivy
Out of 316 applicants, only 49 are accepted ( 15.506% acceptance)
Subgroups
Obsidian (26/117 ~ 22.22%A)
Crimson (14/84 ~ 16.666%A)
Gold (8/79 ~ 10.13%A)
Diamond (1/36 ~ 2.78%A)
As you can see, it is a very competitive process. However, don't beat yourself up. You can apply three times a year, and it's much more the staff looks at then just scores and accolades. The administration conducts a holistic read of a person's application. If you show your passion, you can very well be admitted without having ALL of the requirements necessary.
Good luck to all. If anything changes, I will edit the post immediately.

My NovaScore is so low. I'll never get in any of these groups.

Based off of the numbers, if you were just applying to the Diamond Ivy group alone you stand a .313% chance of getting in.

Good thing I've already surpassed the Ivy rank. I've achieved the "Mark" rank.

None of you guys are getting accepted. You're already bitching about the numbers. Why should you be accepted anyway?
